The E. L. Bruce Company was founded on February 27, 1911 by Edwin L. Bruce in Kansas City, Missouri as a successor to his Bruce Lumber Company (est. 1886). Its industry was flooring and its headquarters were in Kansas City, Missouri (1911-1913), Little Rock, Arkansas (1913-1921) and Memphis, Tennessee (1921-1961).
The company was merged into the Empire National Corporation in 1961 who subsequently changed their name to the E. L. Bruce Company.
